A Massachusetts state representative was targeted by a false bomb threat Saturday morning, she said in a statement.

Rep. Lori Trahan said on social media that she and her family were targeted by a bomb threat. Trahan, who represents the state’s 3rd Congressional District, lives in Westford.

“It’s a good time to say the obvious: threats of violence and intimidation have no place in our country,” Trahan said on X.

Westford police responded to her home and worked with the U.S. Capital Police and the Massachusetts State Police. Her home was cleared after the State Police bomb squad found nothing suspicious, The Boston Globe reported

Westford Police Captain Michael Breault told the Globe that the threat was emailed to the department around 8:15 a.m. Saturday morning. He didn’t discuss the specifics of the email, but said it was a threat against Trahan.

Additional patrols will be stationed around town, the captain told the Globe.

Westford police and the Massachusetts State Police did not return requests for comment.
