According to Light, per procedure, the bus driver has been placed on leave while Westford police, the District Attorney’s office, and Massachusetts State Police investigate the incident.
“The operator of the school bus was transported to an area hospital as a precaution but did not sustain any injuries,” the District Attorney’s office said. “No charges have been filed at this point in the investigation.”
Light said the school district has been in contact with all of the families of the students that were on the bus. Counseling and support services will be made available to students and staff, he said.
“We are deeply saddened by this news and our hearts go out to the family of the motorcyclist and the Westford community,” Light said.
