26-year-old woman suffers injuries after being pinned under 3,000-pound tree stump grinding machine

A 26-year-old Whitman woman suffered injuries Monday after she was pinned underneath a nearly 3,000-pound tree stump grinding machine that rolled over in Cohasset, according to authorities.

Officers responded to the scene on King Street just after noon and found the woman screaming, with her leg stuck under the machine owned by Monster Tree of Cohasset, the Cohasset Police Department said in a statement.

“An officer quickly applied a tourniquet to the victim’s upper thigh, and 4-additional officers lifted the heavy machine, freeing her,” officials said.

The woman was treated and stabilized by firefighter paramedics and brought to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth.
