Christopher Gavin

Christopher Gavin is a general assignment news reporter for Boston.com. He frequently covers City Hall, Massachusetts politics, and crime, and occasionally writes about music and local real estate. His portfolio includes in-depth coverage of the 2021 mayoral and 2022 gubernatorial elections, a look into the evolving local news industry, and contributions to an award-winning 2019 series the state's legal marijuana industry, a year after its launch.

Before joining Boston.com in 2018, he was a staff reporter for The Milford Daily News and a correspondent for The Boston Globe, covering breaking news in the city and the communities west of Boston. A Long Island native, he holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from Emerson College. He has received numerous awards from the New England Newspaper and Press Association for business, history, weather, and human interest features, among other stories. Outside of local news, his passions are his guitars, his records, and obsessively listening to Bruce Springsteen.
